Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health and Yellowhead RCMP are investigating a fatality that started in the back of a grain truck on a Manitoba farm.

The accident happened last Thursday near Sandy Lake. A 44-year-old farmhand from Keeseekoowenin First Nation started to sink in the box of the grain truck he was unloading.

RCMP said attempts were made to pull the man from the grain, but they didn’t work. He was freed when the grain chute was opened.

The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and died three days later. His name is not being released.
