The new fire hall on Taylor Avenue could cost taxpayers even more.

The station was built on property not owned by the city as part of a controversial land swap.

City officials are recommending they expropriate the property as negotiations with the land owner have reached a stalemate.

A report says the two sides are more than a million dollars apart.

Last year, a scathing audit into cost overruns with a number of fire halls concluded developer Shindico had an advantage in the bidding process to build the stations.

Shindico has refuted the report's findings.

St. Matthews to Route 90 plan

City officials are also saying they'll have to expropriate portions of 10 properties to extend St Matthews Avenue to Route 90.

The expansion is part of a multi-million dollar plan to improve traffic around Polo Park.

A report says negotiations have stalled in that case too.
