Car collectors in Winnipeg will get brand new licence plates to go along with a newly developed insurance package, the province announced Friday.
The new licence plates have a vintage look resembling Manitoba plates from decades ago. They are yellow and have the word “Collector” on them.
Drivers with personalized plates on their car will be able to transfer their message to the new plates.
The collector vehicle program was designed to reflect the infrequent use and extreme care taken with these vehicles, said the province.
Insurance rates for the new program are still subject to review by the Public Utilities Board. If approved, the program will take effect March 1, 2014.
