The Assiniboine Park Zoo’s flightless visitors will flying the coop after Sunday. That’s the last day for the HUB Horizon Penguin Cove exhibit.
Tubbs, Sal and Mooshu, the three African black-footed penguins, have drawn large crowds since they arrived at the zoo in May. The exhibit was scheduled to close on September 30, but zoo officials decided to extend the exhibit due to high attendance.
“The penguins have been a great addition to the zoo and our visitors have really enjoyed them
over the last six months,” Dr. Brian Joseph, director of zoological operations at Assiniboine Park Zoo, said in a news release.
More than 325,000 people have visited the zoo since it opened in May, a 52 per cent increase over last year.
The penguin exhibit is open until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
