Police call for public’s help in St. Boniface homicide investigation

Winnipeg police are calling for tips to help solve an investigation into the beating death of a man in St. Boniface.

Orland Joseph Adams, 49, was found assaulted in the 500 block of St. Catherine Street around 9:45 p.m. on Dec. 14.

He was rushed to hospital but died from injuries.

The victim had been home at the time of the attack. Suspects came to the back door and a verbal dispute escalated into a physical assault, with the victim suffering fatal injuries, said police.

"Based on the investigation to date, police believe the suspects were known to the victim and that the victim's death may be related to his involvement in the drug culture,” said Const. Eric Hofley from Winnipeg police.

Police said that could mean anything from using, to buying or selling drugs.
