Winnipeg police said they have arrested a suspect in connection to a serious sexual assault that took place in 2012.
According to police, a 58-year-old woman was attending a house party in the 600-block of Panet Road in the early morning hours of October 12 when she stepped outside to smoke a cigarette.
Police said she was confronted by an unknown male and a serious sexual assault occurred.
Police said the male suspect fled the area and the woman returned to the residence and police were notified.
Police said the investigation continued by the Sex Crimes Unit and on June 13, 2014 the suspect was located and arrested in the area of McDermot Avenue and Gertie Street.
Police said Desmond Koroma, 32, of Winnipeg, has been charged with Sexual Assault.
