A dangerous chase across the city has led police to multiple charges against a man originally suspected of robbing a cab.

Police said a man got into a taxi on Nov. 30 around 11:00 p.m. in the 300 block of Henderson Highway. The driver was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police tried to arrest the suspect when they spotted him driving a blue Ford Tempo near Corydon Avenue and Lilac Street. The driver took off at a high speed, ignoring lights, police said.

The police force called in their helicopter, which followed the suspect to the area of Henderson Highway and Hoddinott Road, where officers said they saw him confront a woman driving a Honda Civic, attempting to steal the car. He failed, and the woman managed to get away in the car.

The suspect got back into the other vehicle, eventually crashing into the ditch along Henderson Highway.

Police said the suspect continued to fight when they tried to arrest him.

Jessie Michael Nagam, 20, has been charged with numerous offences, including two counts of robbery, resisting arrest, dangerous driving and driving without a license.
