Officials offered up an early look Monday at one of three Target stores opening in Manitoba.

CTV News checked out the Kildonan Place store on May 6.

It’s one of three stores slated to open in the province on Tuesday.

Target opened its first Canadian stores earlier this year in Ontario.

The Target stores at Kildonan Place, Southdale and Brandon are scheduled to open on May 7 at 8 a.m.

"What we aspire to do is trying to make sure that the Target experience you have in Canada is as similar to the Target experience you will have going anywhere. Obviously, there are going to be nuances, differences,” said Derek Jenkins, VP of external relations with Target in Canada.

Officials with Canada Target are tight-lipped about whether prices here will be the same as in the U.S.

Some marketing experts say Target Canada is not in a position now to compete with its stores in the U.S.

"They've got to start getting their prices down until they can get all their distribution in place and get more stores up. That's going to be tough because they're buying smaller quantities for the Canadian market,” said Rob Warren.

The company plans to employ between 150 and 200 people in each store. The company has spent about $10 million renovating the old Zellers store locations.

The Target store at Grant Park in Winnipeg is expected to open later this year.
