Manitoba Hydro is working to fix a damaged powerline in the 300 block of Melbourne Avenue near Watt Street.
It said a tree hit a line and burnt a hole in a transformer around 3 p.m. on Friday, causing the power to go out in East Kildonan.
On Twitter Hydro said crews were on site trying to replace the damage poll and transformer. They added that the line will remain de-energized until they have the powerline safely set.
Hydro expected to have power restored to the area by 10 p.m. Friday.
