The victim in a shooting at Johnny G’s has been identified as 24-year-old William Edward Moar.

CTV News contacted family and friends, but no one returned the phone calls. Someone close to the victim tweeted a request that people give the family and friends of William time to mourn.

Those close to Moar also knew him as "G Money." Friends say he was a great guy who left behind a young child.

Officers were called to Johnny G's restaurant around 2 a.m. Friday and found a male victim at the scene.

CTV News has been told the victim was shot execution style in the head.

Officers wouldn't confirm whether the shooting happened inside or outside of the restaurant, or whether Moar was shot in the head. Police said they had a history with the victim, but can't elaborate.

Several people of interest are in custody, according to police.

Sources said most of the investigation has been focused on inside the restaurant. Staff at the restaurant didn't want to comment on Feb. 15.

Officers were also on scene in the 500 block of Sherbrook Street in the investigation and took several people from the area.

"Investigators are speaking to these people that were taken from within the residence," said Const. Eric Hofley from Winnipeg police.

Sources told CTV News a vehicle was spotted leaving the restaurant scene, which police tracked to the Sherbrook home.

Some residents told CTV News that people who live in the home moved there last summer. They said the residents seemed to have a lot of visitors, especially at night.

One resident said she's worried.

"I'd like to move out of the neighbourhood. It's just not safe here," said Veronica Kithithee.

Police continue to investigate the shooting.
