It was a scary experience for a Windsor Park family Wednesday night, when their fridge sprung a dangerous leak.

Emergency crews – including the HAZMAT team – were called to the home on Speers Road around 8 p.m., according to fire officials.

They said the family's old fridge was leaking ammonia gas.

Crews evacuated the home and sent two people to hospital for assessment.

The house had to be ventilated before the family could go back inside.
