A Winnipeg man is trying to enter the Guinness World Records for the longest fighting game marathon.
Dan Bergman started playing Super Smash Bros Thursday night at After Dark Lounge, 121 Osborne St.
Bergman must play for at least 48 hours to break the record. For every hour he plays, he’s allowed one 10-minute break.
“Basically, all I have to do is be playing the game,” Bergman said. “I don’t have to be doing well.”
He’s planning on breaking the record by 7 p.m. Friday.
And while he’s playing, Bergman is also raising money for Geekdom House.
Geekdom House is a place where kids and video game lovers, can get together and learn about game development.
“This program would not only allow them a creative outlet, but would also teach them skills that would be valuable to anyone in the 21st century,” he said.
Geekdom House hopes to raise $10,000 through the marathon gaming event.
