Alyx Delaloye and her family were honoured at an event for International Women’s day in Winnipeg.

The eight-year-old is battling leukemia. She travels with her family between Neepawa and Winnipeg for treatment.

Delaloye stole hearts during a Winnipeg Jets game in February of 2015, when she was featured on the Jumbotron holding a sign that read “Chemo by day, Jets by night.”

On Tuesday night Delaloye, her mother Jody, her father Reg and her ten-year-old brother Hayden attended the Business Women of Winnipeg discussion at the Fairmont Hotel downtown.

The International Women’s Day event made a donation to the Ronald McDonald House on Delaloye’s behalf. The family regularly stays there when Delaloye is getting her treatment.

Brenda Larose with Leaders & Co spoke at the event. She explained why organizers chose to honour Delaloye.

"She's a little girl, this is International Women's Day, and so something that women could give back to a younger generation for what she's going through," Larose said.

The Delaloyes also showed off Alyx’s bravery beads. Delaloye receives a bead every time she has a treatment. Her string of bravery beads stretched across the stage.

"Today she'll have triple chemo and thirteen steroid pills and then she's got her anti-nausea and stomach protectors and vitamins and all of that," said her mother, Jody Delaloye.

Jody Delaloye said her daughter is doing well, but still requires vigorous treatment.
