A couple in gull Lake faces 19 charges under the Animal Care Act after multiple dogs were seized from their property last summer.

Sixty-four dogs were seized from the property in July 2010 after they were deemed to be in distress following an investigation.

The investigation determined the dogs were confined to a location without enough space and lacking proper ventilation or sanitary conditions, said officials.

The charges announced Friday relate to the alleged failure to provide adequate medical attention, along with the confinement of animals that impaired their well-being, said the province.

Facing charges are Peter and Judith Chernecki of the Gull Lake.
