The city is presenting the recommended options to replace the Arlington Bridge at an open house Thursday and wants the public’s input.
The Arlington Bridge is a vital crossing over the CPR Yards in Winnipeg’s North End, but is nearing the end of its useful life.
The city is looking at replacing the Arlington Bridge as a short term solution, but said replacing it alone will not sustain future transportation needs.
The city said two options have been developed as a long-term solution. One includes widening the McPhillips Underpass. The second involves a tunnel connecting Sherbrook Street and McGregor Street.
The open house takes place Thursday, Sept. 17 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Health Sciences Centre, Wellness Marketplace, 700 William Avenue – main entrance.
Another open house takes place Saturday, Sept. 19 from noon to 4 p.m. at the North Centennial Recreation and Leisure Centre, 90 Sinclair Street.
The public can also give their feedback by going online at cprcrossing.winnipeg.ca
The city said it’s also working on a telephone survey for residents to have a say, as well as another set of open houses in winter 2015.
