Muslims across the world and in Winnipeg are celebrating Eid.

About 7,000 people gathered at the Winnipeg Convention Centre for morning prayer Thursday.

Today marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting. It's a day when Muslims around the world show a common goal of unity.

There are more than 15,000 Muslims in Winnipeg.

Following morning prayer, Eid continues with families and friends gathering at homes for meals.

The celebration will end Saturday, Aug. 24 with an Eid festival at Winnipeg Grand Mosque on Waverley.
