The parents of a 23-year-old woman are in mourning after their daughter was found dead inside her Wolseley condo.

The body of Catherine Gastador was found inside her condo in the 800 block of Preston Avenue by her father on Tuesday.

Eduardo Gastador had gone to check on her after receiving a call that she had not shown up for work. He thought she must have slept in.

Eduardo found her lying on her bed and tried to wake her up. He turned her over and noticed blood and a knife nearby.

"(It was) like the earth and the sky fell down on (me)…and then I'm speechless," said Eduardo.

The family hadn't heard from Catherine since Thursday.

It's not yet clear when she was killed.

Investigators are waiting for results of an autopsy.

Catherine's mother Charito describes her daughter as brave.

Catherine was Charito and Eduardo's youngest child and their only daughter.

Neighbours in Catherine's building are also reeling from the incident.

"It's very shocking because she was very young," said Charlotte Jorek.

CTV News has learned that three years ago, Catherine took out a protection order against a 34-year-old man.

At this point, police are still interviewing witnesses. It's not clear if there are any suspects. No arrests have been made.

Officers continue to investigate. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-6508, or Crime Stoppers at 786-8477.
