A nine-year-old girl is doing what she can to help out after a fire at a local library.

Maddison Asbury is a self-described 'big fan' of the Munroe Library.

"I want to lock myself inside and just read for hours," she said.

Last Wednesday, a fire caused $20,000-worth of damage to the building. Maddison says she was angry and sad when she heard about what happened.

"We were in the hall way changing gym class, and I just screamed, “What? This can't happen," she said.

Maddison wants to make the situation better and raise money to replace some of the lost books.

A local church decided to help her out by making cupcakes. They'll be sold next Saturday in front of Giant Tiger near the Munroe Library on London Street. That takes place at 11 a.m. in the morning.

Maddison is calling the event Reunite the Books.

The Munroe Library is expected to remain closed the week of Sept. 8.
