The Manitoba government and officials in Brandon have teamed up to supply grants that will turn vacant space over businesses into homes.
Municipal Government Minister Drew Caldwell says the Upper Storey Residential Development Initiative will provide much-needed rental space.
Caldwell says it will also help business and property owners maximize the use of their historic buildings.
Brandon has the lowest rental housing vacancy rate in Manitoba at 1-point-1 per cent, according to recent numbers from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
