The Executive Policy Committee passed a motion by Public Works Chair Dan Vandal to pay for claims of ruined clothing and linens.
More than 50 claims have been rejected relating to the discoloured water plaguing Winnipeg. Vandal said he hopes those old claims can be revisited.

More than 50 claims have been rejected relating to the discoloured water plaguing Winnipeg. Vandal said he hopes those old claims can be revisited.
For now, the reimbursement will only be for damaged laundry. However, some residents also want the city to pay for bottled water or to discount their water bills.
“If you have to go out of your way and purchase things out of your money than yes you should be compensated,” said Winnipeg resident Pam Nabess. “It's no fault of your own and why should people who are homeowners have to (pay)?”
How the value of the clothing will be determined or if there will be a cap on damage claims is still to be determined.
