The Winnipeg Jets suffered a 3-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers Monday night at Rexall Place.

The win marked Edmonton’s seventh straight win on home ice.

Oilers goalie Cam Talbot turned aside 44 shots in a winning effort.

The Jets had plenty of good chances to beat Talbot including a one-timer from Blake Wheeler to Tyler Myers early in the first period, which was stopped when Talbot slid across the crease to make the save.

It took a bouncing puck off the end boards to get the Jets on the scoresheet.

Wheeler fired a shot wide on the power play which bounced in front to Bryan Little who batted the puck past Talbot out of mid-air.

The play went to a video review but officials ruled it was a good goal.

Teddy Purcell scored twice for Edmonton in the first period while defenceman Justin Schultz added the insurance for his squad in the second period when he made it 3-1 for the Oilers.

Winnipeg wraps up their pre-Christmas schedule with a game on Tuesday night in Calgary against the Flames.
