Evander Kane’s days with the Winnipeg Jets are over as the team shipped the mercurial forward and defenceman Zach Bogosian to the Buffalo Sabres for four players and a draft pick on Wednesday.

In return the Jets get defenceman Tyler Myers, forward Drew Stafford, prospects Brandon Lemieux and Joel Armia, and a first-round draft pick.

Kane, 23, underwent shoulder surgery and will not be available to the Sabres until next season.

The six-foot-two, 195-pound Vancouver native had 10 goals and 12 points in 37 games this season.

24-year-old Bogosian has 13 points for the Jets from the back end this season.

Myers is a former first-round pick for Buffalo who has four goals and nine assists in 47 games so far this season.

The 29-year-old Stafford has played 50 games with the Sabres so far this year, racking up nine goals and 15 assists.

Myers, 25, has played in 365 career games with Buffalo, which selected him 12th overall in the '08 NHL draft.

The Calgary native was the league's top rookie in 2009-'10 and has amassed 151 career points (45 goals, 106 assists) in six seasons with the Sabres.

Stafford, 29, has appeared in 563 career games over nine seasons with Buffalo. He has collected 322 points (145 goals, 177 assists).

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger says the draft pick the Jets get will be the lowest of the three first-round selections Buffalo has in the June draft.

Also going to the Sabres is unsigned goaltending prospect Jason Kasdorf.
