A state of emergency has been declared for Kenora, Ont. as the city experienced significant flooding over the weekend, according to officials.
Mayor Dave Canfield, who made the decision, did so after the city experienced more than 109 mm of rain over a two day period – causing extensive road damage.
The city said crews are working to repair roads, including the main entrance into Kenora, which will remain closed until the necessary culverts can be obtained for replacement.
The state of emergency has been declared, the city said, to give Kenora the opportunity to access provincial assistance.
