Meet Martha, Eleanor and Sadie.
These three little girls were born to Gillian and Sandy Taronno in Winnipeg on Oct. 19, a day of change for many Canadians as a historic election took place.
It was a vote even the expectant parents made sure not to miss.
On Monday, voters at a Winnipeg South Centre polling station erupted with glee when the couple skipped the line to vote ahead of going to the hospital for triplets.
About 20 people were in line when Gillian and Sandy arrived at the polling station inside Harrow United Church.
Gillian asked the waiting voters if the couple could skip the line to vote. She said they had a scheduled C-section at 9:00 a.m. People in line said 'yes' in unison, and motioned for them to move ahead to the front of the line.
The couple's triplets were born at 1:03, 1:04 and 1:05 p.m. at the Health Sciences Centre.
"Now that the shock has worn off and they are here safe and sound, the feeling is pure joy. The support from our friends and family through it all has been incredible," Sandy wrote on his Facebook page.
The story gained attention on social media. @s_vujadin tweeted: "This shows there is no excuse not to vote!"
Nic Audette using the handle, @audettenic, tweeted: "This couple just won the election. #Elxn42 ."
"To field a couple of frequently asked questions: yup, they are identical; yes, they were completely spontaneous and; no, multiples don't run in either of our families.," said Sandy. "So that first ultrasound back in July was surprising."
The couple told CTV they didn't go to advance polls because originally the C-Section, scheduled by the hospital, was planned for Oct. 20.
"Really, though, had we known it was going to be on October 19, we still may not have been organized enough to actually get to the advance polls. Hectic times, you know?" said Sandy.
They said the polling station is close to where they live and were hoping to vote quickly before heading to the hospital.
"Never meant for it to be a big deal, and obviously wasn't quite the most interesting thing to happen to us yesterday," said Sandy.
Martha Erna, Sadie Helen and Eleanor Mae were named by the couple's son Oswald, after The Beatles and three grandparents the family lost this summer.
