Military members and veterans continued to celebrate Fort Garry Horse weekend Saturday with a parade through downtown.
The weekend's events were in honour of the 100th anniversary of the Fort Garry Horse Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment Saturday morning.
The storied Winnipeg-based military unit took park in a parade that went down Main Street, past city hall and then west down Portage Avenue to the legislative building.
The unit was joined by horses, marching cadets and military vehicles of the past and present.
Veterans of the Fort Garry Horse Regiment rode in 17 vintage military vehicles owned by the Fort Garry Horse "Ghost Squadron," while modern ones carried current members of the unit and the Cadet Corps.
Veterans and service members were also joined by a number of military vehicles including a 34-ton Sherman tank similar to those used in the Second World War.
Riders clad in authentic uniforms topped with scarlet tunics led the horse-mounted troop.
Celebrations are set to continue this weekend with a gala at the Fort Garry Hotel Saturday night and a farewell brunch at the McGregor Armoury on Sunday.
