Officers have arrested a suspect following a downtown Winnipeg stabbing that claimed the life of a man on Canada Day and injured a second victim.

Police identified the victim of the fatal stabbing near Main Street and Broadway on July 1 as Tanner Roland Beaulieu, 25, of Winnipeg.

He had been walking with three people in the area when they came into contact with a group of six people.

A verbal exchange escalated and a suspect in the second group armed himself with a weapon and stabbed two victims, said police.

The two were rushed to hospital in critical condition and Tanner Roland Beaulieu later died from injuries.

Police arrested a suspect on July 3.

Kevin Glenn Bunn, 25, of Winnipeg faces charges for second-degree murder and attempt to commit murder, said police.
