Progressive Conservative Leader Brian Pallister spent the day in Manitoba's north, making stops in The Pas, Flin Flon and Thompson.

Under the PC plan, Pallister said if elected he will make economic development a priority by focusing on natural resource development, including forestry and mining.

The plan also calls for supporting tourism opportunities, including Beluga whale watching, polar bear and aurora borealis tours, fishing and hunting.

He said at 35 per cent, the unemployment rate in northern Manitoba is too high.

To tackle that, the party said it will build a framework to work with indigenous community and build effective partnerships with all levels of government.
