Thursday morning, police reported slippery road conditions and numerous vehicle crashes in southern Manitoba.
On Highway 210, just east of St. Adolphe, a sedan rear ended a school bus around 8:30 a.m., said RCMP. The bus was stopped with its lights flashing and stop sign activated at the time. Six children were on board the bus. No injuries were reported.
The driver of the sedan has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act.
Around 8 a.m., Beausejour RCMP were on scene when a vehicle went into the ditch. A police officer was getting back into his vehicle when it was hit from behind by an eastbound vehicle and then a second vehicle.
The police vehicle was parked on the shoulder with its emergency equipment activated at the time. The officer was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
RCMP continue to investigate.
A rollover was also reported on Highway 59, just north of Highway 44. Officers also responded to a crash involving a semi-truck and a van at Highway 101 and Inkster Boulevard. Four people were taken to hospital following the two crashes with non-life-threatening injuries.
RCMP advised drivers to use caution and reduce speed during winter driving conditions, and to also be aware of emergency vehicles and school buses.
Police also responded to multiple crashes Wednesday night and issued an advisory about road conditions near Winnipeg.
