A forecast for high winds in southern Manitoba have resulted in a high wind effect warning for the south basin of Lake Winnipeg and the south basin of Lake Manitoba.

The province says north winds are forecast to increase throughout this evening, increasing up to 60 kilometres an hour tomorrow.

Weather experts say wind speed and direction could raise levels by as much as three to five feet along the south shores of both lakes and could result in significant wave action on shorelines.

Property owners in those areas are being advised to take precautions.
