A 66-year-old man from Winnipeg has died after a crash on the Trans-Canada Highway Tuesday afternoon.
The two-vehicle collision happened just east of Portage la Prairie around 12:15 p.m.
RCMP say a westbound minivan crossed the centre ditch and collided head-on with an eastbound pick-up truck pulling a camper trailer.
Police say the driver of the minivan, a 66-year-old from Winnipeg, was pronounced dead at the scene. They will not release his name.
A 61-year-old man from Ste. Anne was driving the truck and was taken to Portage General Hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening. His wife was airlifted to Winnipeg and is listed in stable condition.
RCMP continue to investigate what caused the minivan to leave its lane.
Highway 1 re-opened completely to traffic Tuesday evening.
