Officers confirmed that a search at a Lorne Avenue home has uncovered the remains of 36-year-old Myrna Letandre, a woman reported missing in October 2006.

RCMP said the woman’s death is being treated as a homicide. Members of the Project Devote task force have been on scene for days. The project is focused on missing and murdered women investigations.

Sidney Letandre, Myrna’s cousin, spoke to CTV News about the discovery of Myrna’s remains.

“I just started crying. It was just like it just made everything so real, but at the same time it was kind of a relief because now I got some closure,” said Sidney.

The tip to search the home came from B.C. police. Sources said officers were investigating Traigo Andretti in the disappearance of his wife Jennifer McPherson, 41, from her home on Hanson Island in B.C. on May 1. Her body was later found. Andretti, 37, faces a charge for second-degree murder.

CTV News is told that before moving out west, the B.C. couple had lived in Winnipeg in the Lorne Avenue home, the same building in which Letandre may have once lived.

“There's speculation the victim may have been a resident of that home at one point but I can't confirm that,” said Cpl. Miles Hiebert from RCMP.

No arrests have been made in Letandre's death. Anyone with information is asked to call the Project Devote tip line at: 1-888-673-3316.

Police said they can’t confirm if there is a connection with the B.C. homicide case.

Officers continue to investigate at the Lorne Avenue home, but officers said they are not searching for any other missing women in connection with the case.
