It's another sign spring is on its way - the river trail is closed for the season in Winnipeg.

The Forks is reporting surface cracks and puddles on the ice.

It began pulling the warming huts closer to port over the weekend so they wouldn't get stranded.

This year, the skating trail ran a total of 6.5 km, which is two kilometres shorter than in 2008 when the trail broke the Guinness World Record for the longest naturally frozen skating trail in the world.
