A 10-year-old boy is dead following a snowmobile crash near Rosebank, Man., on Sunday.

RCMP officers were called to the collision, which took place on a private property just north of Rosebank, around 7:40 p.m.

Mounties said that the 10-year-old boy was driving a snowmobile with his family members when he side-swept a fence. Police added that this caused him to lose control of the snowmobile and crash into a tree.

The child, who was wearing a helmet and other safety equipment, was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

The RCMP is investigating.
