City council will look much different when it reconvenes, with a new mayor and seven new councillors.

In the Daniel McIntyre Ward former school trustee, Cindy Gilroy, ousted long-time councillor Harvey Smith by about 600 votes.

In the Elmwood-East Kildonan ward Jason Schreyer stole the councillor seat from incumbent Thomas Steen.

In the St. Charles ward Shawn Dobson unseated Grant Nordman.

St. Boniface elected Matt Allard as their new councillor after Dan Vandal stepped aside to run in the next federal election.

In St. Norbert Justin Swandel has resigned to pursue real estate, while his former assistant Janice Lukes won his old seat.

Paula Havixbeck stepped aside in the Charleswood-Tuxedo ward to run for mayor and Marty Morantz won the spot.

The St. James-Brooklands ward voted Scott Gillingham to represent them. He was endorsed by the outgoing councillor, Scott Fielding, who will run in the upcoming provincial election.

Councillors who were reelected to their post include Jenny Gerbasi in the Fort Rouge-East Fort Garry ward, Ross Eadie in Mynarski, Jeff Browaty in North Kildonan, Devi Sharma in Old Kildonan, Mike Pagtakhan in Point Douglas, John Orlikow in River Heights-Fort Garry, Brian Mayes in St. Vital, and Russ Wyatt in Transcona.
