Manitoba Liberal candidate for Southdale, Jamie Hall, has pulled himself out of the race.
Party leader Rana Bokhari said in a statement Thursday morning Hall has apologized and offered his resignation, which she accepted.
“As a woman I simply cannot accept comments that disparage women,” Bokhari’s statement read. “Manitobans have every right to expect and demand a high standard of their candidates and MLAs. We are Liberals and we hold ourselves to a higher standard. It’s what Manitobans expect and demand.”
Hall was under fire Wednesday from the NDP over several social media posts.
Incumbent for Kirkfield Park Sharon Blady called the language used misogynistic.
Hall’s Twitter and Facebook accounts have also been taken down.
Bokhari released another statement Thursday evening, regarding the complete end to the party's ties with Hall.
“The Manitoba Liberal Party has severed all connection with Jamie Hall at this time. All social media services have now been transitioned," Bokhari's statement read.
