Despite snow overnight Thursday in Winnipeg, golfers in the province can now hit the greens at several golf courses.

Minnewasta Golf and Country Club in Morden opened its 18-hole course on Sunday, April 20.

On Friday, golfers from East St. Paul made the trip to take advantage of the opening.

They said after the long winter it feels good to be outside on the green.

Winkler Centennial Golf Course has also opened its 18-hole course.

Its first day of business was Saturday, April 19.

Both golf courses said they have several bookings and expect it to be busy this weekend.

Shooters Family Golf Centre in Winnipeg opens its course this Saturday. The outdoor driving range has already opened as well.

A City of Winnipeg spokesperson said Kildonan Park Golf Course and Harbour View are expected to open late next week. City crews are slated to work in the coming days to get those courses ready.

The city said a late arrival for spring weather has, on average, only pushed back golf course opening dates by about two weeks. Typically, April 17 is the average opening date for courses in Winnipeg, said the city spokesperson.
