Most of the Headingley Correction Centre opened normally on Saturday morning, following an incident on Friday, officials with the province said.

The incident was resolved peacefully just after midnight. In the morning, only the unit where the disturbance took place remained locked down.

About 25 inmates refused to obey orders to stay in their cells on Friday afternoon. The Emergency Response Team was called to deal with the situation around 2:30 p.m. and the jail was locked down.

A corrections vehicle blocked access into the facility while the incident was ongoing.

No one was injured and only minimal damage was done to the facility, officials said.

Officials have not yet announced any charged related to the incident.
