Travellers using a small Manitoba border station will be able to do so after hours under an upcoming pilot project.
The project in Piney, Man. will use remote technology to screen drivers overnight.
People will talk to a border guard via an audio and video link. The guard will be stationed in Hamilton, Ont.
The option wil only be for Americans and Canadians crossing into Canada.
It will enable the crossing to be open 24 hours.
A similar pilot project is being introduced in Quebec.
The crossing at Piney in southeast Manitoba will see the remote plan begin in April 2015.
