With temperatures hovering above 0 C for most of the afternoon, lots of people were out and about on Saturday, but the warm weather wasn't great news for the Red River Mutual Trail.
Crews have been working this week to extend the trail from Queen Elizabeth Way to Churchill Drive.
They'd hoped to have it complete on Saturday.
Staff from The Forks say conditions on the ice are slushy. The plan now is to wait until temperatures improve before they officially open the next leg.
There was some good news on the trail, however. Organizers were able to add some new warming huts to the trail, and there will be even more brought out in the days to come.
