Wildfires broke out late Thursday afternoon in the RM of Stuartburn. Since then, fire crews have been working around the clock to contain them. A command post has been set up where firefighters will have to spend the night as they rotate crews in and out of the blaze.

Tinder dry conditions and strong winds are adding fuel to the fire that's already burn through at least 100 hectares of land.

"The wind is our biggest concern," explained Mike Purtill of the Office of the Fire Commissioner. "Because we are having a difficult time predicting where the fire is going to go."

About 60 people have been forced from their houses. Others now on evacuation notice have been told they may have to leave within an hour's notice.

Chris Wiwsionski's friend has already been forced from his home. His herd of 150 cattle still in harm's way.

"They're close enough that we're worried," said Wiwsionski.

There are four wildfires burning in and around the RM of Stuartburn. Firefighters are working around the clock to contain them.

More than 70 firefighters from ten different municipal fire departments are providing help in fighting the blazes. The RM of Stuartburn declared a state of emergency Thursday night.
