The penny will soon be no more in Canada, but instead of rolling the coins up and stashing them away, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service hopes you'll donate them for a good cause.

Tuesday morning, the department is launching a penny drive to help The Salvation Army.

Collection tins will be placed at all fire stations in the city.

Pennies can also be dropped off at several Scotiabank branches around town.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service hopes to collect over one million pennies to help feed children in need.
