A Winnipeg man said he is the victim of a vicious road rage attack, and he caught the whole thing on his dash camera.

Roman Jestadt said he and his brother were taking a drive on Canada Day, when a passenger in a black SUV stuck his head out and started getting upset with him.

Both his car and the other vehicle were in the turning lane at the intersection of St. Anne's Road and Fermor Avenue when the incident occurred.

As they started to turn, Jestadt said that a passenger in the other vehicle spit at his car. He admitted that he retaliated by giving a rude gesture to the other man.

It was at that point that the passenger stepped out, and began hitting Jestadt's car windows.

"I felt like really endangered at that point,” he said. "He didn't just get out of the car and start yelling at my window. He tried to break my window.”

Jestadt said at that point he sped off, as an attempt to get away from the man. But the car followed him, so he called police.

"I realize that they are coming at me really fast, and I think they're trying to hit me, because I don't really have any doubts that they would try and hit me, since he tried to smash my glass.”

He filed a report with Winnipeg police, who confirm they are now investigating the incident.

“Certainly, there are some missing pieces to the puzzle,” said Const. Jason Michalyshen. “After reviewing that video there's a lot of concerning things taking place in that video with respect to two individuals on the roadway.”

He said when dealing with drivers that have road rage, it is best to stay away and to not interact with that individual for any reason.

According to Michalyshen, no one has been charged yet in this incident.

Jestadt said he is still shaken up, but is happy he had his dash cam placed at the back of his car during the encounter, because it allowed him to get a better view of the encounter.

He also recommends other drivers get a dash camera.
