Officers said a suspect faces child pornography charges after an investigation was launched in January.

Officers with the Winnipeg Police Service Internet Child Exploitation unit (ICE) were contacted by the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre in Ottawa about pornographic images of children being uploaded to the Internet.

The ICE unit conducted the investigation, which led to a search warrant being carried out in the northwest part of Winnipeg on Feb. 26.

A 43-year-old male suspect was arrested and faces charges for possessing child pornography and distributing child pornography, said police.

The suspect has been released on a promise to appear in court. His name has not been released.
