Operation Red Nose is looking for help. The volunteer driver program says it's short 100 volunteers for New Year's Eve.

The program helps holiday party-goers and their vehicles get home safely.

The service is free, but drive teams gladly accept donations to support youth programs in the province.

Operation Red Nose is put on by Safety Services Manitoba and Manitoba Public Insurance.

The program usually needs more than 100 volunteers for New Year’s Eve... But organizers say only 50 have signed up.

"New Year’s Eve is a special night,” saidSharra Hintonof Operation Red Nose. “Nothing happens until midnight. No one wants to go home until midnight comes. Then, they all want to go home right now. So, in order to do that we need 50 teams out, and each teams consists of three people, so that's 150 people."

Organizers say they will answer all calls placed. They ask people to be patient.

Brandon's Operation Red Nose is also looking for drivers. They released a statement Monday saying they only have two teams operating right now, and could use about 30 more volunteers to work New Year's Eve.

Those wishing to sign up to volunteer with Operation Red Nose can do so online, and if you need to use the service, call 204-947-NOSE (6673).
