One man is dead and another went to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a single vehicle crashed on Old 514 Road about five kilometres north of Highway 68 near Ashern.

Ashern RCMP said they arrived at the scene at about 4:00 a.m. Saturday and discovered an SUV resting on its roof.

The 40-year-old male driver from the RM of Grahamdale was pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP said he had not been wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

A 26-year-old male passenger from Lake Manitoba First Nation was wearing a seatbelt and was able to remove himself from the SUV and was transported to hospital.

RCMP said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
