Arson blamed for fire that caused $600,000 in damage to Superstore on Sargent

Winnipeg police said a fire that hit the Superstore on Sargent Avenue last month started as a result of arson. Damage is pegged at $600,000.

Officers and fire and emergency crews were called to the store at 1385 Sargent Avenue around 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 23.

An investigation showed that the fire started in the children’s toy department.

The arson strike force continues to investigate.
