Liberal Leader Rana Bokhari will not dump one of her candidates who called for the closure of hospitals to gain publicity.

Bokhari said she had a “stern” discussion with Brandon-West Liberal candidate Billy Moore. She said he made a mistake and has apologized to her for the stunt.

The Liberal leader said she will keep him on as a candidate, adding he did not make an ethical error like stealing money or making sexist remarks.

On Wednesday, Billy Moore said the province could cut down on wait-times by closing some hospitals. He told CTV he made the comments to get attention.

When contacted by CTV Friday, Moore said it was a mistake and that he has apologized to his leader.

Bokhari said she’s not opposed to Moore saying sorry to his constituents publicly.

In the Brandon-West riding, Moore opposes Progressive Conservative candidate Reg Helwer and Linda Ross of the NDP.
