A 40-year-old woman from Waywayseecappo First Nation faces impaired driving charges after the SUV she was driving crashed into a school bus carrying four children on Thursday.

A 44-year-old passenger in the SUV died and others were injured in the collision. Emergency services responded to the call around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The SUV was travelling north on Shingoose Road when it hit the bus, police said.

The school bus driver and four children, along with the 40-year-old female driver of the SUV and the 41-year-old male rear passenger, suffered minor injuries. The 44-year-old front seat passenger in the SUV suffered serious injuries.

The three riders in the SUV were taken to Russell Hospital where the 44-year-old was pronounced dead, said RCMP.

Sharon Murdock faces a charge of impaired driving causing death and two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm. She will appear in Brandon Provincial Court on April 7.
