Podgy the pig has been given a reprieve by the city.

The pot-bellied pig's owner Emily Sydor fought a removal order claiming Podgy is a service animal.

Community Services Committee Chair Mike Pagtakhan confirmed Sydor has until June 1, 2017 to show she's taking steps to get Podgy trained as a service animal.

The city is also going to develop a policy on service animals to prevent a similar situation in the future.

Sydor was set to appear before the committee for a third time Friday morning.
