The City of Winnipeg has updated the plan for clearing snow and rut-covered streets.
Crews will continue to focus on plowing and sanding problematic intersections and opening curb lanes.
Beginning at 7 p.m. New Year’s Day plowing will commence again on main, collector and bus routes.
Residential plowing is not on the city’s agenda yet because of more snowfall expected at the end of the week.
The city said the residential street situation will be re-assessed after that.
Some people are already blaming the unplowed residential streets for motor vehicle accidents.
Andrea Hrushka said ruts in the road caused her car to spin out of control and hit a pole on Monday.
"I was very upset," she said, "I know it's only a car but it wouldn't have happened if this road was clear, if it was straight."
Manitoba Public Insurance said people must drive safely for road conditions.
If people are found to be at fault for a crash they still face the penalties associated with that even if roads are snowy or icy.
